As a sculptor, Robert Bruno chose to work with steel. His life consisted of doing installations and smaller project’s, however one day he decided to start building himself a home. For 50 years Bruno put together and tore apart pieces of steel which very slowly began to create unexpected forms and spaces. With no architectural training or drafting skills, he worked in a unique and unexpected way. Tragically, Bruno died before he could finish his project and left no drawing - just an alien-looking structure in the middle of the desert. I wanted to tell the story of this building, and the story of an artist tormented by the endless quest for perfection until the very end. My project represents the timeline of the project through abstracted and fragmented pieces of the building. A visualization of the mind of an artist.
